Momentum
Keep the flow between thought and file fast without losing accuracy.
Momentum is the quality of moving from idea to working change without friction. It is not hurry; it is rhythm. Each step — locate, select, edit, verify — flows into the next without a pause long enough to forget what you were doing.
Momentum comes from habits, not adrenaline. The shortcut for the action you repeat most, the test command you run without thinking, the review pass that catches mistakes early — these are the infrastructure of flow. Set them up once and they pay for themselves every session.
Speed is the reward for precision, not a substitute for it.
When momentum breaks, slow down on purpose. A lost thread, an unclear error, a change that no longer makes sense — these are signals to reorient, not to push harder. The fastest path out of confusion is a deliberate step back.
The measure of momentum is not keystrokes per minute. It is the distance between the intent and the working proof, covered without doubling back.
